My Amyloidosis

My November blood sample has just been analysed and the result shows another fall in Lambda Serum Free Light Chains (SFLC) which is good news.  The October result was 71 and the latest result is 51.5.  This is great, but on the down side, means that they may suggest another cycle (7th) of chemo as the results haven’t stopped falling.  They usually stop when two or more results stay the same.  The dilemma is that 6 cycles is usually as much as they like to give someone in one period.

The normal range is between 8 - 33, so ideally I hope the next result can knock another 20 of the last result.

My next appointment is on December 3rd so I’ll keep you updated - the sample given on this day will not be available until about two weeks after this.  It’ll be interesting to see if they wait before issuing the 7th cycle , issue as normal on the day or say you’ve had enough?
